later people call it pianoforte or fortepiano. But now we call it Piano. In
1732 published the composer Lodovico Giustini twelve sonatas. That was the first
music who was special composed for the new instrument. In the sonatas was indicated
where to play soft or loud.

The new design of Silberman

instrument was very famous and other instrument makers make their own pianos.
In Germany Gottfried Silberman built his own piano. When the piano was finished
he shows his piano to Bach. But Bach don’t like the sound. He think the high
music notes where to thin. So Silbermann made a piano with a lighter touch.
When Bach play on the new piano he say that it was a very good piano.

furniture, but they were to big. So a German start to build smaller pianos. The

student of Silberman was a very popular piano maker. His name is Zumpe. His
pianos where sold in France and in America. Because the pianos where so popular
Zumpe decides to improve the instruments.
Upright Piano
After the
success of the square piano the makers tries to make the sound of a grand piano
in a small piano. The simplest way was to put the strings upright. The result
was a high giraffe piano. But the where ugly in a small room. In 1811 a makerfrom
